We are a small family that raises sustainable, ‘beyond organic’ poultry, pork, maple syrup, honey, chevon (goat) and hopefully more as our farm grows. Why “Righteous Oaks” Farm?
We want to be a part of the vision God gives us in Isaiah 61 of proclaiming the good news to the poor, the brokenhearted, and the prisoner. The beautiful thing that God plans to do with these people of low esteem is to turn them into Oaks of Righteousness. We long to see God do this on and through our farm. Whether it is through a time of renewal for ministers of the city, the discipleship of our own children and future interns, or the workday visits of city youth with their mentors, may God, “give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he may be glorified.” (Isaiah 61:3)
Who we are:
We are Mathew and Katie. Married since 2004, God has taken us from downtown Minneapolis growing strawberries and such in a community garden to South Minneapolis digging up all our grass for as much garden space as possible to 240 acres near Aitkin, MN. He’s given us three beautiful boys, a great family of support, and a desire to follow as He leads. And here we go…
