2017 Events

March is almost over and we’re already moving full speed into the 2017 farm season. I’d like to share this list with you so you can know what and when things are happening on the farm!

  • March-May:
    • Maple syrup season is going strong.
    • Seed starting has begun
    • Planting high tunnel
    • Fix up fencing and move the hogs regularly
    • Baby goats!
    • Daily chores
  • April 20th – Last day to order Spring half or whole hogs
  • April 22nd thru 25th – Hogs are going to the butcher
  • May 4th – Baby chicks arrive
  • May 4th – Pick up oak trees
  • May 22nd – Move chicks from the brooder to chicken tractors
  • June – August:
    • Planting (plants and trees)
    • Weeding
    • Farmer’s Market
    • Moving and feeding animals
    • Setting up water system
    • Daily chores
  • First week of June – J-term with a MN charter school
  • June 29th – Baby chicks arrive
  • July 8th – Chicken butcher day, 8am-Noon
  • July 15th – Chicken butcher day, 8am-Noon
  • July 17th – Move chicks to tractors
  • September – November:
    • Harvesting
    • Weeding
    • Mulching
    • Fixing
    • Daily chores
  • September 2nd – Chicken butcher day, 8am-Noon
  • September 9th – Chicken butcher day, 8am-Noon
  • November – January:
    • Sending hogs and goats to butcher
    • Putting soil to rest
    • Daily chores
